April Theme Day: Waters Edge

Early Autumn brings large schools of Mullet and Baitfish close to the beach. Large pods of Dolphins chase and feed and come very close to the shore. You can often be swimming and a flash of silver-grey can rush past in a wave, it can be momentarily disconcerting as sharks also follow the moveable feast.

They can put on spectacular displays as they herd the fish through splashes and walls of bubbles.

  1. Wow. Not something you would experience at my favorite beach. although I'm glad we don't have any sharks there. That top photo is a good one.

  7. Spectacular! The colour of the water is to die for. I love the way you've used the theme day word. Adore the fish in that second photo. Is that a dolphin? I should know... Amazing capture.

  9. Mark this is the most beautiful post I've seen for today's theme! Seeing dolphins so close to shore, that's incredible!

I was lucky to see many while sailing, love them!
I remember my teenage son being dead scared when he first saw a fin next to him while surfing in Australia - took him a while to realise it was a dolphin, not a shark!
