Mid-Winter Signs No 4: New Life

The grass is very brown and burnt from a series of severe frosts a fortnight ago. Warming weather in a months time will quickly turn everything green again. On an afternoons walk I found some newly born lambs, met some folk who were collecting green feed for their goat who had mastitis and couldn't feed newly born kids and watched calves gambol around a paddock. Spring is really just around the corner!

  1. Well then, Mark, it sounds like you had a perfect day.
Winter, farm animals, fields--these are all things that I love and miss very much.

  2. Sounds like a wonderful place for an interesting afternoon walk Mark. Also gives a picture of just how there is always farm work to be done.

  4. Cute baby lamb photo, Mark! I wonder if some of that wool will be made into yarn?

  5. Today was extremely springlike here in Sydney, too. Will be similar for the next week. Many of the trees are sprouting their late winter/early spring blossom, wattles and magnolia in particular.

  6. I have been watching the brown grass in my country travels and imagining the green that will appear soon. I went down to Western Sydney today and it sure was spring like down there.
