Once We Were Owners

This vintage sign recalls the old days when the rate payers of the North Coast owned and invested in the local electricity company, NRCC. In the 90's the Carr State Government stole corporatised it. Then it was called North Power, then it became Country Energy, now it is called Essential Energy.
Essentially it's just a silly name and obviously it will change again at great cost.

This is a Thursday Signs Post. Click here for more signs.

  1. The RTA changed their name a week or so ago too. Progress = changing your name.

You have some excellent photo skills and interesting topics. Thanks for all your photos.

  2. I've never understood why companies can't just keep the names that everyone knows them by. It is usually called by the older name for several years anyone.

  3. It's a classic alright. Just like the huge logo on the facade of the substation that I featured a couple of weeks ago for the old 'Municipal Council of Sydney'.
