Driving Through the Swamp

I would never suggest to anyone to drive through flood waters but I knew the road well, the water wasn't moving, it was only a few inches deep and slowly going down. Still we proceeded slowly and kept looking at the just visible bitumen. I am truly amazed how clear the water was, unlike the thick brownness of the Clarence River.
It was a strange sensation to be driving in the middle of a vast lake that the Ulmarra Swamps have become in the last fortnight.

This is my contribution to the Watery Wednesday meme.

  9. Driving through water can be very dangerous!
You never know, if there is whole in the road.

  10. What a fortunate shot you've captured here. Certainly this clear, sparkling water is not what one expects from a swamp. Well done!

  11. Brilliant image! I love it. The water really is blue and clear... unusual for a flooded road. I hope the flood waters have receeded a bit.
I remember the floods of April 2009 - we lived in South grafton up on the hill and I was about to have my son. We had to park one car at the railway station in Grafton and the other at home. My family had to take the train from Sth Grafton to Grafton to visit me in hospital (the rivers broke their banks just after my husband dropped me at the hospital.
