A Melbourne Tram in Glenreagh???

The Glenreagh Mountain Railway is located on a long disused branch line to Dorrigo. They have had their ups and downs over the years. In 2008, the Rail Safety Act meant that they had to stop running their 1919 steam locomotive. The good news is that they recently received accreditation and hopefully will be able to run their trains again soon.

The Melbourne Tram is actually about to go the Sydney Tramways Museum at Loftus. The departure of the tram will allow space in their shed to be used on restoring other carriages in their collection. It will be a great day when the steam trains are running again in Glenreagh. To visit the Glenreragh Mountain Rail Museum click here.

This is my contribution to Lesley's Signs meme.

  1. Good old Melbourne trams, you never know where they'll turn up next. Great post, Mark.

  3. Please step inside... sounds so much more polite than just "don't stand on footboard".
    Nice tram, too.

  4. A lovely looking tram- hope the renovated train system is all up and running asap and is set at a reasonably price for passengers...

  5. I love the old tram. And there is always a picture of these things moving along with someone hanging onto the rail and waving, isn't there?!

  6. Love the look of these old tram cars. I don't think any city ever regrets restoring and reintroducing vintage trams. It adds a certain dash to the city vibe.
