F is For Forest Fires

High winds and winter burn offs getting out of control have resulted in a series of large blazes in the Clarence Valley over the last few days. The air has been thick with smoke and the sounds of helicopters dumping water to fight the fires.

  1. Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, Mark. We have had our own share of forest fires right near my village this month, and it is no fun.
But you got a dramatic photo of the helicopter in action.

  2. I knew what this was even from the thumbnail size photo. Brush fire looks exactly the same here in Southern California, copters and all.
We have been very lucky this season so far, hope those near you are controlled and put out as quickly as possible. Great photo,I could almost smell the smoke in the air!

  8. Fires in the US are worse than they've ever been.......is that true in your neck of the 'woods'? Is it extra dry? (I could look that up, I suppose)

  9. Oh, no; do stay safe! It's been ridiculously hot here in the US this summer, too, causing fires like crazy all over. Scary.
