An exciting new sculpture has been unveiled in the Grafton CBD, 'Duopoly' has been seen as comment on the power of the Woolworths and Coles Supermarket Corporations and their dominant position within Australian consumer society and the need to 'overturn' them.
Others are unimpressed, with Ern Malley stating that it "looks like something a drunk did on Friday night after the pub closed."

I'm wavering between art and just an upturned trolley ... Maybe I'll run with the latter.
ReplyDeleteJust looks like a prank to me, but I could be wrong.

ReplyDeleteI once heard of someone who travelled the world photographing shopping trolleys. An interesting project - and they are put to so many different uses -besides carrying shopping.
ReplyDeleteI think perhaps the artist here should have used a bit more exaggeration to make his/her point - an interesting idea though.
love it!
ReplyDeleteLooks like someone was in a hurry and decided the trolley bay was too far away! At least it's a great talking point, imagining stories!
ReplyDeleteLooks like some kids had fun with it.

I'm with Ern,for a protest sculpture to work it needs to be a bit less subtle!
