Yamba - Today and Yesterday

White's Friendly Grocer has had many names over the years. For a long time it has been a supermarket that faces Yamba Street.
Many decades ago it was a Bakery/Pie Shop that faced High Street with doors and windows where all the signs now reside. The awning has also been removed.

  1. What a pity the awning has been removed ... It would have added much sought after shade on a hot summer's day.

  2. I love that you took the time to share with us how the original structure looked. I find both to be very charming in their own ways. genie

  3. It has lost something so retro with the removal of the awning!

  4. I like the idea of windows that overlook the street. Imagine standing in the bakery ordering a pie or cake, and glancing out at the traffic going by, if any!

  5. What a very good location for a store. Looks like they retain the old structure too.

  6. Apart from the same number of windows on the second floor it is almost unrecognizable!
I like the name Friendly Grocer, though.

  7. Lots of signs! I liked the old one better, but at least they've saved it!
